About Me
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
I was born and raised in Brazil until the age of seven. After moving to
the U.S. and being dropped head first into a whole new language and
culture, I strived to find my identity. As a young teen, I found myself in
skating- an extremely male dominated sport where you run the risk
of injury and the reward is a natural, endorphic high and sense of self
achievement. Because street skating took me to some very grungy
locations, I was introduced to street art and graffiti at an early age. The
fact that people could create art quite literally bigger than themselves
simply blew me away.

Although I admired the craft, I did not feel confident to try painting
walls until many years later. I was afraid of being judged by the
boys, and rightfully so. Trying to paint “like them” led to scrutiny and
questioning from the graffitti writers. I had experienced this before
when I started skating and I realized the best way to prove myself is to
just paint and make it known that I was here to stay.

Today, my work acts as a form of resistance. It tells stories of the people
and moments who have inspired me throughout my life. Whether it is
someone I know personally or people that I’ve met in passing.
It keeps me, and the viewer connected to the fact that we are all
experiencing life differently- every passerby is living a life as vivid,
complex, and chaotic as our own. I aim to connect people by the
thread of knowing we are all in this human experience together.
